Hi all,
When posting on another thread, it occurred to me that us well seasoned with the islands know a few more of the "rules'. Many of them local customs that have passed on and work well. I thought that I should chime in about road ettiquette, everyone else with their own insights to the local customs please add to this thread.
Here I go:
The traffic can get very congested at time, but of course the islanders have found a way that makes it work here. When someone flickers their headlights at you, they are giving you the right-of way to turn. The local custom is to "honk" a thank you.
Of course I almost forgot. How could I? Good Morning, Good afternoon, and Good evening. Islanders and statesiders alike have foregone the busy attitude of stateside living and truly enjoy the gift of small talk and greetings. It is considered rude not to greet a local that way.
Molly
Thanks Molly
What a pity we all consider both of these as unique to the VI and not a normal way of relating to others.
For the guy I saw walking by Mandela Circle yesterday- You MUST wear a shirt if you are on the street!! No toplessness. And ladies, that means a shirt/top over your bathing suit.
