Well we leave a week from tomorrow and first I want to say thanks for all the helpful tips I've received. buck island is on our list of must sees, as is the domino club. we are staying at a villa in Enfield Green and as we are arriving late on saturday wondered if anyone had a suggestion as to where we could go grab a quick bite to eat after we get settled. also, what are the best beaches closest to there. we supposedly have a private, yet rocky, beach at the house. i think we'll want to stay close to home the first day and then set out to explore further on Monday. where also is the best place to look for local art, not really interested in paintings, but sculpture or metal work. Any other must dos or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. can't wait to get there.....
Have you heard about St. Croix Leap? Artistry in Wood - Mahogany Road - 340.772.0421. Here is some guys web page with some pictures.

Have a great trip.
You can't beat the golden rail and the luncheria for good eats..I never had a bad meal at either...Go to the plaza for grocerys and K-mart for booze...the prices were good when I was there 2 years ago..Rent a car a drive all the way around the island....It's has it's own personality!! Buck island is a blast, really beautiful...Have fun
What time to you get to STX on Saturday? Late evening arrivals can have a hard time finding food here. Enfield Green is adjacent to the airport. The closest food options would be in Frederiksted. Maybe try Lost Dog (Pizza, pasta, sandwiches, calzones, etc.) or the new Blue Moon Restaurant (steaks, pastas, seafood, etc.)
If you are in by 6 PM and just want something tasty but not fancy, make a quick run up the 4-lane highway to Sunny Isle and get something from China Jade. You probably want to save the Christiansted restaurants for other nights.
There are some sandy beach areas in Enfield Green, but some of the waterfront there is a rocky bluff. If you want a great beach to play on for Sunday, head for Sandy Point (southwest tip of the island) or any of the west end beaches. Rhythms at Rainbow beach is a fun place to play in the water and there are food/drinks/bathrooms available at the beach bar.
Sandy Point is a national park zone and the gate is only open on Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM during the winter months. It's closed all summer for turtle nesting season. If you saw the movie Shawshank Redemption, the final scene in "Zihuatanejo" was shot at Sandy Point. If you are only here for a week and flying on Saturdays, then Sunday is your only chance to go there by road. It is accessible by boat anytime or by walking along the beach for people who don't mind a very long hike in and out.
