We are leaving in three days for Cinnamon Bay. We are renting a car on STT. I did not request a 4 x 4. Should I reconsider? We plan on traveling a little around STJ. Cinnamon, Maho, Trunk Bay, Salt Pond. Do I need a 4 X 4?

You do not need a 4WD to visit 80% of the beaches on STJ. 4WD comes in handy getting to some of the 'off road' locations, steep hilly areas (none of which you mentioned) and occasionally after a rain and the streets are slick.
You should be fine 🙂

I agree w/Chris@Work. I recommend 4WD, but it is not necessary unless you plan to be extra adventurous. Just be extra cautious when it comes to the hills on wet roads, driving up and around sharp turns in particular.
