We are going to spend our 30 anniv. in St. Thomas this June.

We are going to stay at one of the resorts. We are going to have a rental car.

Where does one go grocery shopping?

We would like to know where to go to hear Andrew Douglas (pan player) play. We will be on the island from Sat - Sat.

We like to snorkel and heard Coki Beach is one of the best places for that. Are there other good snorkeling spots?

We also like to go to dinner and do some dancing. Where does one do that?

Trinket55 Here are a few of my favorites.

1. Congratulations!

2. Are you looking for a recommendation on a resort, or already have one.

3. Depends on what part of the island you will be staying.

4. When you get in town you can pick up a copy of the Island Trader or check out www.virginislandsdailynews.com for the schedules for live entertainment.

5. I love to snorkel at Coki, my favorite, but the beach does get a little crowded. Secret Harbor is another option. It is well worth taking the car ferry over to St. John. Trunk Bay is very clean and has excellent snorkeling. They have underwater plaques describing the different types of coral.

6. Again this depends on what part of the island that you will be staying. There are so many options, if you can narrow it down a bit, you'll get Lot's of great recommendations.

Trinket, tell us what resort you will be staying in and we can better help you with your questions. I second the advice for snorkeling at Secret Harbour !

You can get good shoping at Plaza Extra or K mart in Tutu. They are a little cheaper than Marina Market or Food Center.

You can stay anywhere on the island but we perfer the east end. You are close to a lot of resturants and most of the best beach's are a short ride away like Megans. Also the ferry to St. John is in Red hook.

Resturants we like are Roberts, Carribean saloon, duffy's, Molly's, Anslies and Latitude 18.

Have a good time!!!!

Trink: Andrew Douglas plays at various venues. You'll want to double check when you get here, but I believe he is currently at Ainsley's Thursdays and Sundays, Blue Moon on Fridays, Indigo on Mondays, Sugar Bay on Wednesdays. If you are in the " married 30 years" demographic, you might enjoy the piano bar at Robert's!

We will be at Bluebeards Beach Resort.
We can't wait.
Recommendations for jewelry shopping? There are literally hundreds of jewelry shops to choose from.
Not sure if it is better to take the car ferry over to St. Johns or the passenger ferry and get a taxi to Trunk Bay. ??

Trinket,

I stay at Bluebeard's Beach Club every year and always go snorkeling there. It's not great snorkeling, but there's enough to keep it interesting along the rocks on both sides of the beach. There's a resident baracuda, schools of squid and different species of fish. I would agree with the others here that the best locations are Coki, Sapphire and Secret Harbour.

Trinket,

For an awesome day of snorkeling, treat yourself and the hubby, contact the guys that run the Stormy Petrol. You'll start your day at the Bath's in Virgin Gorda, have an excellent lunch on Cooper Island and then off to Norman Island and the cave's. I't a toss up about the car or passenger ferry to Trunk Bay. If it's the 2 of you their is not really a cost saving taking the car. But if you want to explore the island and be on your own take it. If you bring your car you can't stay as long, the passenger ferry's run later into the evenings.

Maybe someone can help me on the jewelry question. I've never purchased anything of great value in the islands. I have an honest local jeweler that I trust. I'm not saying that I have ever been ripped off in STT, I just don't know my gems enough to make a large purchase with a stranger. Also, I had been eyeing this Movado watch at Sam's club and when I got to STT and stopped in to inquire about the price, it was comparable, not any any huge discount that I was hoping.
