At the risk of being yelled at I will take a shot at this, I am coming back to STX to live soon, my daughter and son-in-law are there already, we need a 3 BR/2 B house to rent long term. Would prefer something on the West end, we lived on the East end last time. Anybody have or know of anything?

becky, i don't know of any but i know that some of the residentd have subscriptions to the local paper with the classified ads. People and ask get answers on the relocation forum (upper right of this page). The VI residents on the relo forum seem willing to help.

Good luck!

Thanks blu, I should have looked before I asked, but that seems to be the big debate around here.

There is a mountain of info there, thanks again for being so helpful.

You wouldn't have known to look over there! I just happen to have been on that forum when they have replied to rental questions with quotes form the classified ads from the paper. Good info!

I wonder how long your daughter and SIL have been down there. I have read that the best resource is word of mouth. People are taken most seriously and given "inside info" when they are already on island. FYI.. Maybe they would visit a few of the more upscale cocktail hour spots and out some feelers out.

They have only been there a month this time, but this is there 3rd stint were there in 2000 and we just came back last November this last time. They do have a lot of friends there (I have a few) but are not seriously looking until I get there I think. I will go back sometime in Nov. You are right about the inside info and the word of mouth too, I landed a really good job there before I went last May. Sadly his contract was up and we all ended up coming back to Louisiana/Texas. I can't wait to get back I love it there. Tomorrow I will sit down and read what you told me about, thanks again.
