well from an initial group of 5 we are down to only two! long story but myself and remaining friend are dterminied to carry on regardless!! this time next week we'll be on a plane over the atlantic somewhere on our way to STJ...happy days!!

i sneak on here in work everyday and keep up to date with the comings and goings on island...very useful and informative and i love reading through people's reviews,especially when there are pictures! i'm looking forward to writing my own although i'm trying not to think about the fact that i will eventually have to leave the island!!

just thought i'd start a thread about books....i'll be heading to the book shop to get 2 or 3 good books for the long...LONG flight over and back and the lazy days on the beach. has anyone any good suggestions? i love bill bryson,pete mc carthy and so on then for the beach i'm a closet clive cussler fan so love that kinda swashbuckling adventure stuff too.

so any suggestions?

i'll kick off for anyone heading on a long plane trip or hitting the beach for a lazy afternoon to try 'shantaram' by david gregory roberts (i think) i read it a year ago and thought it was stunning, he is a very visual writer and made each page come alive IMHO....
