First I'd like to say that VINOW is a great informational source. I've been to the VI'S more times than I can count and often had a ton of questions & no one to ask.

So question #1 - My wife to be and I are flying into STT around 1:50 pm on a Monday in May 06'. We need to get over to Tortola, clear customs and arrive at Nanny Key by 5pm to take over our first nites charter on our bareboat from North/South. Will we make Nanny by 5?????

#2 - When you arrive at STJ from BVI by boat, must you present the vessel to customs. In other words, can we moore the boat at Caneel and taxi over to customs in Cruz Bay?

Thanks for any help and good job with the board!

You will find it really difficult to get to Tortola by 5:00 pm.

Some of your options would be to take the ferry. Smith's has 3:30 pm ferry that usually takes between 60 and 90 minutes to get to West End or Road Town. You must then clear customs and then get a taxi to take you to Nanny Cay. West end is closer.

Native Son shows a 2:30 ferry. If you make that you probably will get to Nanny Cay by 5:00pm.

Air Sunshine has a 15 minute flight at 3:15 pm arriving at 3:30.
That one would work for you if you can get on it. One way fare is about $125.

Another possibility if you are flying through San Juan is to take a Cape Air flight directly to Tortola.

I don't know the answer to #2
