Hi everyone,

I was hoping you all could help me out. 🙂 I am looking for advice on a one night stay in St. Thomas in May 2008. We will be on our honeymoon and are spending 10 nights on St. John and staying our last night on St. Thomas in order to make catching the flight easier. Where is the best place to stay on St. Thomas for one night? Clean with a pool and hot tub would be nice (and of course reasonable price). I would preferably like to be close to things to do since we'll have had the whole trip to relax.

Also, would we need to rent a car for just one day there? We'll arrive on St. Thomas in the afternoon and our flight leaves around noon the next day. Are the buses/taxis outrageous? That was another reason we'd prefer a place within walking distance of things.

Thanks in advance!!

Lindsay

Highly recommend the Best Western Emerald Beach by the airport (< 1/2 mi). Clean, nice pool, right on the beach, hot tub, and reasonable rate ($150 or so in the low season, which would apply for May). You could walk to the airport if you don't have a lot of luggage, or I (think) they have a shuttle (don't quote me on that). There's another Best Western closer to the airport, but it's not as nice.

I would suggest staying at the Holiday Inn Windward Passage. It is located in downtown Charlotte Amalie. It is within walking distance of everything. You can go to the Greenhouse for dinner and music in the evening. You wouldn't need a car or a taxi to get around and they have some gaming on site. Hope your stay is wonderful and good luck with the honeymoon. Make sure during your stay you go to Water Island and go to Honeymoon beach. It isn't crowded and gives the feeling of having your own private beach. The ferry is only $9 round trip.

With all due respect I'd opt for Emerald Beach for that one-night layover.

Your time on STT is limited and this stayover will be at the end of your honeymoon trip and your last night should be a combination of loving and food indulgence. Walking along the beach while fighting off the biting bugs isn't too nice but you can spray yourselves well to avoid all the local biters.

Cheers!

or you could take the 2 dollar safari taxi from CA over to red hook wander there for a bit and then take the 2 dollar back to CA and then walk over to sky ride and take that to the top and have a couple of drinks, cheesy but fun

Best Western Emerald Beach. You can take taxi to town if you want to shop. Close to town and airport. Beautiful beach and good food.
