I would like to go on a 1/2 day fishing trip, but it looks like I need a group. I will be there with my wife (not going fishing) 3/20 - 3/25/2009. Does anyone need or want an extra person for their trip? Or, does anyone have any idea how to go about this?

Thanks,

Doug

Hi, Doug,

A friend and I were out boating a couple of days ago and got onto the subject of fishing, but he didn't wanna go with just the two of us....so I suggested this board and lo and behold! You already have gotten it started! I ALWAYS go with Doubleheader (www.doubleheadersportfishing.com)...my WORST half day trip was 13 Tuna, Smallest about 7lbs, biggest about 40lbs...and that's the worst day in 11 years down here! haha! Since my friend and I live here, we can work around your schedule....but I would, ideally like to get one more to go, so we'll leave this up and see who else wants to go that week.

Prepare to be TIRED OUT! Haha! The first 20lbs of fillets are ours to take home! Afternoon trips to the South Drop are going be the best option for good action and more time actually fishing, than driving out to the North Drop....not as many marlin on the South....but they hafta be over 1,000lbs to keep, anyway! And I dunno how good they are to eat! Haha! I KNOW the tuna, mahi mahi, wahoo, etc are tasty! And, even if you have no place to cook it, most restaurants will allow you to bring in your own fish & they cook it for you, for a fee...and side dishes, of course...let's keep in conact and puit this trip together...

Count me in if we can find one more. It would be best if we could go out in the morning for my family but if you think the afternoon is best we could probably work something out. I am more interested in catching something I can take back to our rental house and cook than marlin anyways. I would prefer to go on a day when there are more cruise ships in so that we can use this as one of our "non-touristy" days!

Doug in freezin *ss Wisconsin!

Hi Doug

I'm from GB. I've been out with Double header a few times afternoons seem to be better for tuna and Mahi then mornings In the mornings it is more of a reef fish bite

Waterguy is right, we definitely wanna go in the afternoon...and the first couple of hours will be kinda slow...but, then, around 4:30, it's gonna be like someone flipped a switch! WHAM! Fish on NONSTOP! You'll DEFINITELY have dinner to take home! And it really will be the best meal of your trip! Keep checking the Cruise ship schedule on this site, and when Islander gets the March Schedule up, pick the day you wana go and we'll start putting this together...my e-mail is available by clicking on my name to the left there....

Will be on STJ March 8-15 and would possibly be interested in getting in with a group.

Monday the 23rd will be the best for Kramer and I, Doug.

Pablo, right now we have 3 for the 23rd...we can take one more...you in?

Bonnie, Doubleheader can take 4 fisherpersons (gotta be politically correct! Haha!)

We had 6 but it was a family group so maybe they made an exception.

Well, it really depends on the boat and what type of fishing you are going to be doing...for tuna/deep sea, four is the right amount for me...and it goes for $600/half day (I think someone mentioned cost earlier...)
