Sapphire is a pretty white sand beach. Sea grape trees on the right side offer shade to beach goers; and sun worshippers can enjoy basking in the sun on the left side where trees are fewer. Iguanas and ducks are often seen on the left side close to a man-made pond. There is a water sports booth that offers wind surfing, kayaks and snorkel gear rental, as well as chair rentals. At the nearby marina you can rent jet skis or go parasailing.

Sapphire is a great beach for relaxing and for enjoying water sports. A shallow rocky ledge and reefs on the right side offer good snorkeling. Food and drinks are available from a a small open air grill, drink vendor and from the nearby condo restaurant. Sapphire Beach Resort, Condos and Marina are all within walking distance of the Sapphire Beach shoreline.

Just got back from St. Thomas (11/`21) and we had a great time.  I'm an avid snorkel fan with intermediate experience.   Sapphire Beach was the best all-around beach with a combo of beauty and snorkeling of the 5 beaches we visited (Lindquist, Coki, Magens Bay, Secret Harbor being the other 4).  My wife and I stayed at the Sapphire Beach Resort for 4 nights (2 previous nights on St. John).  We were very please and pleasantly surprised how much we enjoyed the beach and the snorkeling.  There was a good breeze most of the time, but I thought the seas and water would be more rough with how open it is toward St. John / BVI's.  Snorkeling was definitely best to the right. Lots of LARGE elkhorn corals and fish.  Swim around the point is excellent, even 50-75 yards off the point is still very good (It can be a little rough that far out on a windy day).  Around the other side of the point was pretty dead and not great.  The left side of the beach was fun, but most of the corals are dying.  Still a lot of fund rock formations to swim over and you can still bump into a lot of fish.  I had a school of 200 blue tang circle me twice, to the point where it was a continuous circle of fish around me.  It was spectacular.  Several minutes later, a spotted eagle ray swam past me about 6 feet away...startling me at first.  The next bay over is fun to explore but much of the same as the left side.  Overall, it was one of my favorite snorkel places on st. thomas.   Oh...and they have restrooms and a beach bar with drinks, burgers, tacos, etc. that is really nice.  Nice seating area with a million dollar view.  New restaurants are supposed to be opening in Jan. 2022 right there also.

Sapphire Beach Resort & Marina is my favorite place to stay. The beach is great. You are right on the beach!! I wish they still had the main bar & restaurant ( along with the one at the pool too). But, it is still by far, my favorite place to stay.

My gf and I came to this beach for the first time on August of 2010 she felt in love with it. If you're looking for a good snorkling place then swing to the right side of the beach it has many types of fish that swing in school and also school of squids. Swing toward the reef area and make sure you brig your floatation with you if you're not a good swimmer :). If I have to compare Coki Point with Saphire then Saphire would be my first pick. I would definely come back to it again in the future.

What a wonderful place if you enjoy snorkeling. Great for kids too as there is a reef very close to the shore on the right hand side! If you are an adult and are a good swimmer, go out about 150 yards on the right hand side and you will be greeted by some of the most beautiful fan coral I have ever seen in such vibrant colors! We had a beautiful day on this beach. Lovely shade on the right hand side! Caution to those who are a bit unsteady on their feet however. I just had a knee replacement and there is a significant "step down" at the shoreline when getting in and out of the water. I fell in love with this beach and will return each year!! The parking is abundant and we had a beautiful lunch at the Banana Cabana! Oh yes, we saw Iguana as well. I just love those critters!

Got a spot under a tree for shade. Water was calm and enjoyable, spent too much time there (good idea to get out the water and re-apply sunblock or get some shade for a while). Saw some fish close to shore with mask/snorkel, kids enjoyed that. Was sandy on one half and small pebbles/rocks on the other. Good bit of people but not crowded. The watersports place was renting chairs and other things. There were iguanas there and ducks. Kids were eating a snack when along came a big... BIG iguana on a mission to eat a snack too, got right up next to them! The kids freaked out screaming that the iguana was going to eat them. Not likely but it was a huge, scary iguana. Went back to Sapphire another day; water was rough so didn't stay.
